Grand Century Place, building in Hong Kong
Grand Century Place is a large building complex in Mong Kok with two tower blocks of eleven floors each and an extensive shopping area at the base. The shopping area MOKO spans seven floors and houses numerous retail stores, the largest Uniqlo in the Kowloon area, a supermarket, and a major food court called Food Opera.
The complex was built in the late 1990s as an architectural project featuring European-inspired elements, Roman-style pillars, and artistic ceiling murals. A major renovation in 2015 introduced a new shopping layout, modern glass facades, and a rebranding to MOKO to align the space with contemporary standards.
The name MOKO represents the modern shopping identity that has defined this place since its rebranding in 2015. Visitors experience a mix of international brands and local shops that reflects the diverse retail culture this Mong Kok location serves.
The location is easily accessible via the Mong Kok East MTR station and features a direct connection to the Royal Plaza Hotel. Navigation inside has become clearer after renovations, with the building now divided into four main zones that help visitors move around efficiently and find what they need.
The original design featured a large circular atrium about 30 meters in diameter with computer-controlled musical fountains and large TV screens as the centerpiece. This spectacular central space was removed during the 2015 renovation and replaced with the current four-zone layout, marking a significant shift in the building's character.
