Sunning Plaza, Office tower in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong.
Sunning Plaza was a 30-story commercial building in Causeway Bay with a spacious plaza entrance and modernist design elements. The architecture was created by I.M. Pei and Patrick Chan and housed major tenants including McCann Advertising and Yahoo Hong Kong.
The building was constructed in 1982 on the site of Sunning House, which had stood since 1949. The original structure was one of the first residential buildings in Hong Kong with individual unit ownership for residents.
The location served as a filming location for notable Hong Kong movies like 'A Better Tomorrow' and 'It's a Drink, It's a Dream'. This connection to the film industry made the building part of the local entertainment culture.
The building was directly connected to Causeway Bay MTR station through Exit F1, providing easy access. This connection made it a practical transportation hub in the busy district.
The building was demolished in 2013 to make way for Lee Garden Three, marking the end of a landmark that shaped the Causeway Bay skyline. This transformation shows how rapidly the city evolves and older structures give way to new development.
