Zhu De's Former Residence, Birthplace and former residence in Yilong County, Sichuan, China

Zhu De's Former Residence is a historical compound in Yilong County containing multiple structures, exhibition halls, and memorial spaces arranged across the grounds. The site houses permanent displays of artifacts, photographs, and documents that document the life of Zhu De.

Zhu De's ancestors built the house in 1820, in the 25th year of the Jiaqing reign. Zhu De was born there on 11 December 1886 and lived in it for 14 years. Sichuan listed it as a provincial cultural relic in July 1980, and the State Council designated it a Major National Historical and Cultural Site in 1988.

The architecture showcases traditional Chinese design with wooden structures and brick materials typical of late Qing Dynasty construction methods. The compound reflects the craftsmanship and aesthetic principles valued during that period.

The residence and memorial hall stand in Linlang Village, Ma'an Town, east of Yilong County seat. The memorial hall has six exhibition rooms covering 780 square metres, with a 186-metre display route. The grounds also hold five classical pavilions and Lancao Garden, where over 1,000 orchid varieties are grown.

Deng Xiaoping, an influential Chinese leader, personally inscribed the site's name on a horizontal tablet in 1982. This calligraphy underscores the national importance placed on this location within modern Chinese history.
