Zhu De's Former Residence

Zhu De's Former Residence is a historical compound in Yilong County containing multiple structures, exhibition halls, and memorial spaces arranged across the grounds. The site houses permanent displays of artifacts, photographs, and documents that document the life of Zhu De.

The compound was built in 1820 during the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty and served as the birthplace of military leader Zhu De in 1886. The site marks a significant junction between late imperial China and the modern nation's development through this influential figure's life.

The architecture showcases traditional Chinese design with wooden structures and brick materials typical of late Qing Dynasty construction methods. The compound reflects the craftsmanship and aesthetic principles valued during that period.

The site is organized with pathways connecting different areas and allowing visitors to move naturally through the compound. Informational panels and signage at main locations help explain the historical significance of each space.

Deng Xiaoping, an influential Chinese leader, personally inscribed the site's name on a horizontal tablet in 1982. This calligraphy underscores the national importance placed on this location within modern Chinese history.
