Shuilu'an, Buddhist temple in Lantian County, China
Shuilu'an Temple sits beneath Wangshun Mountain, surrounded by water on three sides, forming a natural island shape in Shaanxi Province.
The temple complex, dating from the Tang Dynasty, underwent substantial renovations during the Ming Dynasty between 1563 and 1567.
The temple walls contain over 3,700 clay sculptures in the Daxiong Palace, demonstrating traditional Chinese Buddhist artistry and craftsmanship.
The temple opens daily from 9:00 to 17:00, with free admission and direct bus connections from Xi'an train station via route 926.
The temple holds the distinction of housing what experts consider the first color plastic wall sculptures in the world.
