Cheung Chau Ferry Pier, Pier in New Territories, Hong Kong

Cheung Chau Ferry Pier stands on Praya Street inside the Cheung Chau Typhoon Shelter, on the island's central-west coast. It was designed by the Port Works Division of the former Public Works Department and opened on 28 April 1960. The pier was substantially expanded in 1986 and 1987, and renovation works in 2015 enlarged the passenger waiting area, improved ventilation and added a new canopy at the entrance.

In 2019 the Civil Engineering and Development Department commissioned a consultant to study rebuilding the pier north of the present one.

The pier sits beside the Cheung Chau Typhoon Shelter, and its concourse opens onto Praya Street, the island's busiest shopping strip. Inside the paid area, a snack shop sells bread, fried noodles, rice rolls and curry fish balls, and drink vending machines stand in the waiting hall. Smoking is banned in the pier area and on board.

The pier sits on Praya Street beside the Cheung Chau Typhoon Shelter, with the public pier immediately to its south. Sun Ferry runs the route to Central Pier No. 5 using both slower ordinary ferries and faster catamarans. A 2015 renovation added a canopy at the entrance and expanded the passenger waiting area.

The pier's daily Central route carried an average of 26,315 passengers in 2015. In 2019 the Civil Engineering and Development Department hired a private consultant to study rebuilding the pier, with a preliminary proposal to place a new structure north of the current one.
