The Beijing Auto Museum is an automotive museum in Kandan spread across five floors and housing more than 70 historical vehicles from different periods of Chinese automotive development. The collection includes state cars, military vehicles, and civilian models that represent the range of Chinese vehicle production.
The museum was established in 2006 and opened to the public in 2011. It was created to document and display China's automotive history for future generations.
The museum displays state vehicles built for Chinese leaders, military cars, and civilian models from different eras of the country's automotive history. Visitors can see how vehicle designs and purposes evolved as the nation developed its automotive industry.
The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday and is located on the west side of South 4th Ring Road, making it relatively easy to reach by car or public transport. It is helpful to plan for about two to three hours to explore the different floors and vehicle collection comfortably.
The museum was recognized in 2019 by the Chinese Museums Association as the most innovative institution among more than 5000 candidates. This recognition reflects how creatively the facility presents its collection and exhibitions to visitors.
