Lotus Pond Park, Urban park in Taipingqiao Subdistrict, Beijing, China.
Lotus Pond Park is an urban green space covering about 53 hectares with multiple water bodies holding over 80,000 lotus plants of around 250 different varieties. The layout centers on a main lake, with pathways allowing visitors to explore these water gardens.
This location served as a critical water source for ancient Beijing starting around 1045 BCE. During the Ming Dynasty, it was later transformed into an imperial garden used by the court.
A white marble statue near the pond shows a traditional Chinese story about a Lotus Fairy and a figure named Lotus-root Man. Visitors notice this sculpture as they walk, helping them connect with local legends and beliefs.
The site is accessible daily with multiple entry points from different sides. Visitors should plan their visit during lotus blooming season to see the flowers at their fullest display.
An outdoor theatre features a T-shaped stage with musical fountains on either side. Performances take place with blooming lotus flowers as their natural backdrop, creating a rare fusion of architecture and landscape.
