White Cloud Temple, Taoist temple in Xicheng District, Beijing, China.

The White Cloud Temple is a Taoist sanctuary with multiple halls, courtyards, and planted areas arranged across expansive grounds. The buildings follow traditional Chinese design with ornate roofs, red pillars, carved doorways, and interior spaces decorated with religious artwork and altars.

This sanctuary was established in 739 and began as a modest prayer hall. In the 13th century, it became the main headquarters of the Quanzhen School under Master Qiu Chuji, transforming it into a major center of Taoist practice.

This temple serves as the spiritual center for followers of Quanzhen Taoism, where visitors observe believers lighting incense and making offerings at the altars. The daily rituals and gatherings here reflect how this faith remains active in people's lives today.

The grounds are walkable and the pathways are clearly marked, making it easy for visitors to navigate the different areas. Most routes involve level walking or gentle slopes, ensuring access for people with varying mobility needs.

Many visitors touch an ancient stone monkey figure in the courtyards, following a local Beijing tradition believed to bring good fortune. This practice has existed for centuries and blends spiritual purposes with folk customs.
