Muxidi, Metro interchange station in Xicheng District, Beijing, China.
Muxidi is a metro interchange station in Beijing with two island platforms and four tracks serving both Line 1 and Line 16. The station features ten exits labeled A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2, D1, D2, E, and F to help passengers navigate.
The station opened in 1971 as part of Line 1 and underwent expansion in 2022 when Line 16 platforms were added. This extension reinforced the station's role as a major connection point in Beijing's growing metro system.
The name Muxidi comes from sweet osmanthus trees that grow throughout this part of Beijing.
Transferring between the two lines requires exiting and re-entering the station, so allow extra time for this process. Exits D1 and E provide accessibility for people with limited mobility.
The two lines are not directly connected, meaning passengers must fully exit and walk through the station to change trains rather than using a direct passage. This out-of-system interchange setup is uncommon in Beijing's network and makes the experience quite different from typical transfers.
