Chishi Bridge, Cable-stayed bridge in Chishi Township, Hunan, China.
Chishi Bridge is a cable-stayed crossing that spans a deep valley in Hunan province with three major cable-stayed sections. The structure is supported by a network of steel cables attached to tall concrete towers.
The project started in the early 2010s and took several years to complete, representing a major infrastructure undertaking. It was built to establish a key transportation link through a mountainous region.
The bridge forms part of the G76 Xiamen-Chengdu Expressway, connecting developing regions across central China.
When visiting, keep in mind that this is an active traffic route best viewed from nearby vantage points rather than crossed on foot. The surrounding valley and landscape offer good photo opportunities from safe locations.
The concrete towers of the bridge rise 287 meters high and incorporate double-sided hyperbolic curves with steel components.
