Nanhua Temple

The temple spans across 425,000 square meters with prominent buildings arranged symmetrically along a north-south axis, including the Caoximen Gate and Grand Hall.

Founded in 502 during the Liang Dynasty, the temple gained prominence when Master Huineng established it as the center of Southern Chan Buddhism for 37 years.

The temple maintains a collection of significant Buddhist artifacts, including the Thousand Buddha Kasaya from the Tang Dynasty and 500 Arhat statues.

The temple grounds contain multiple halls for meditation, accommodation facilities for overnight stays, and educational spaces for Buddhist studies and cultural programs.

The temple preserves the physical remains of Master Huineng in a sacred shrine, making it one of the few temples in China with such a direct connection.
