Mount Danxia

Mount Danxia is a mountain system in Renhua County, Guangdong, featuring distinctive red sandstone formations with high cliffs throughout the landscape. The area contains numerous rock peaks that have been shaped by weathering and erosion over long periods.

The area holds evidence of human presence dating back thousands of years, with archaeological findings discovered at the southwest margins of the Danxia basin. These discoveries show that people have inhabited the region for an extremely long time.

The rock formations have acquired local names based on how their shapes resemble human features and familiar objects. Visitors can spot these named formations like Yang Yuan Stone as they explore the landscape.

Visitors should prepare for changing weather conditions, especially during the wetter months from April to June when rain is heaviest. It is wise to bring appropriate gear to stay safe and comfortable while moving through this mountainous terrain.

The reserve is home to a wide range of rare animal species, including numerous mammals and birds, many of which appear on international protection lists. This biological importance makes the area of interest not only for those studying geology but also for nature enthusiasts.
