Nanhai Guanyin Temple

Nanhai Guanyin Temple is a Buddhist complex with multiple halls arranged along a central axis, including a bell tower, drum tower, hall dedicated to the Sixth Patriarch Huineng, and meditation spaces. The buildings create distinct areas for different religious activities and gatherings.

This place was founded in 990 during the Northern Song dynasty as Nanhai Guanyin Palace and underwent various reconstructions over the centuries. Its current form took shape following a major renovation completed in 1996.

This place honors Guanyin, known in Chinese Buddhism as the embodiment of compassion and mercy. Visitors experience how devotion to this figure shapes the daily rhythm and spiritual life within these walls.

The temple sits at the base of Niugugang hill and welcomes visitors throughout the day. Come during daylight hours to fully explore the different halls and structures across the grounds.

Master Zhao Puchu from the Chinese Buddhists Association presented an inscribed plaque to mark the temple's importance in Buddhist practice. This recognition by a prominent Buddhist authority holds special meaning for many devotees who visit.
