This suspension bridge spans 2,003 meters across the Chishui River with a main span of 1,200 meters and a width of 27 meters, connecting Xishui County and Gulin County in the mountainous terrain of western Guizhou Province.

The bridge was completed and opened to traffic in 2019 as part of the Xugu expressway development project, which aimed to improve regional connectivity and reduce travel time between rural and urban areas in Guizhou Province.

The bridge is named Hongjun Bridge in Chinese, which refers to the Red Army, commemorating the historical significance of the Long March when Communist forces crossed the Chishui River multiple times during the 1930s.

The bridge is located at postal code 564622 with the address 547Q+9H9 in Xishui County, and it accommodates multiple lanes of vehicular traffic on the expressway connecting Xuyong to Gulin and the surrounding region.

Standing at a height of 243.5 meters above the river valley, this bridge ranks among the highest suspension bridges in the world and features deep cable anchorage tunnels drilled into the mountainside to support its massive span.
