Dingshan Bridge, bridge in People's Republic of China
Dingshan Bridge is a cable-stayed and road-rail bridge that crosses the Yangtze River in Chongqing, connecting Jiangjin and Jiulongpo. The structure features tall towers from which cables fan out to support the roadway, with six lanes for vehicle traffic on the upper deck and the Chongqing Rail Transit Line 5 running beneath it.
The bridge opened in 2013 as a result of complex construction over the Yangtze River. The project was part of rapid infrastructure growth in Chongqing and improved connections between districts that previously required longer travel times.
The bridge is a daily crossing point for commuters and residents moving between districts. For many people in the area, it has become a routine part of everyday life, used by thousands each day for work and travel.
The bridge is open around the clock for pedestrians, cars, and trains, offering the fastest route between the two districts. Traffic is heaviest during morning and evening rush hours, so crossing at other times is less congested.
The bridge supports four different types of transport on a single structure: cars, trucks, buses, and trains. This multi-use design makes it a functional solution that makes the best use of limited space above the river.
