Chongqing Olympic Sports Center, Multi-purpose sports stadium in Chongqing, China
Chongqing Olympic Sports Center is a sports complex in the city featuring a main stadium and several athletic facilities spread across its grounds. The main venue accommodates tens of thousands of spectators and serves as the primary location for football matches and other sporting events.
The main stadium was completed in 2004 with a capacity of 58,680 seats. That year it hosted matches in Group D and a quarter-final of the 2004 AFC Asian Cup. It later hosted the 2016 and 2017 Chinese FA Super Cup and became the home ground of Chongqing Lifan F.C.
The stadium is the home ground of Chongqing Lifan F.C. of the Chinese Super League, and in 2016 and 2017 the center hosted the Chinese FA Super Cup. The name comes from the Olympic sports center project built in the city's high-tech zone, and the ground also draws concert audiences: Mariah Carey opened her 2014 China tour here on October 15.
The center is served by Olympic Sports Center station on the Loop line of Chongqing Rail Transit, in Jiulongpo District. Opening depends on the event calendar, so check whether a football match or concert is scheduled before travelling out.
The stadium hosted Group D matches and a quarter-final of the 2004 AFC Asian Cup, the year it was completed. On 15 October 2014 Mariah Carey opened her The Elusive Chanteuse Show China tour here, one of many concerts held at the venue.
