Egongyan Rail Transit Bridge, Railway bridge and suspension bridge in Jiulongpo District and Nan'an District, China
The Egongyan Rail Transit Bridge is a suspension bridge crossing the Yangtze River between Jiulongpo District and Nan'an District in Chongqing. Two transit tracks run along its length, with a separate pedestrian walkway allowing people on foot to traverse the same route as the trains.
This bridge opened to traffic on December 30, 2019, as a major addition to Chongqing's rail network. Its completion improved cross-river rail connectivity for the city and connected previously separated districts by transit.
The bridge represents the integration of modern engineering with Chinese infrastructure development, demonstrating the technical capabilities of regional construction and design practices.
You can cross the bridge by taking the Loop line train or by walking along the pedestrian path. Both options allow you to experience views of the Yangtze and the surrounding cityscape during your crossing.
The main span stretches approximately 600 meters, making it one of the longest cable-supported bridges built exclusively for transit use. This engineering achievement reflects advanced construction methods in modern bridge design.
