Starlight Place, Shopping complex in Chongqing, China
Starlight Place is a ten-story shopping complex in Chongqing featuring bold angular forms and refined material choices throughout its design. The exterior combines polished black granite, grey aluminum, and copper-toned cladding to create a contemporary appearance.
Architects at Aedas completed this complex in 2011, marking a turning point in Chongqing's commercial growth during that period. The project emerged when the city was reshaping its retail landscape with contemporary buildings.
The name references the glowing interior created by extensive glass panels that light up after dark, giving the building a distinctive evening presence. This blend of commercial design and luminous character has made it a notable gathering place for shoppers seeking both local and global brands.
The complex sits adjacent to a metro monorail line on Jiang Nan Avenue, making it easily accessible by public transportation. Inside you will find more than 250 stores ranging from international brands to local retailers, offering plenty to explore.
The building houses Chongqing's largest Apple Store and was home to the first Costa Coffee and GAP locations in southwestern China when it opened. These stores attracted shoppers who had previously been unable to find these established brands in the region.
