Guangzhou Chimelong Tourist Resort, resort in China
Guangzhou Chimelong Tourist Resort is a large leisure complex in Panyu combining several parks and attractions in one location. The resort includes an amusement park with over 70 rides, a safari park with more than 500 animal species, a major water park, an international circus with seating for 6000 spectators, and a bird park with over 300 bird species.
The resort started in 1989 as Xiangjiang Safari Park, one of China's first wildlife parks. The complex grew over decades through the addition of the amusement park in 2006, the circus in 2000, and other attractions, eventually receiving China's top tourism rating in 2007.
The name Chimelong comes from Chinese and means long prosperity. Today, the resort serves as a place where visitors engage with animals and learn about conservation through shows and educational displays. People experience animals in settings that mimic their natural habitats while enjoying performances and rides throughout the day.
Visitors reach the resort easily by taking metro lines 3 or 7 to Hanxi Chimelong Station and using the free shuttle from there. The resort is large, so it helps to buy combo tickets in advance, prioritize which parks to visit, and book circus shows early.
The resort is home to the world's only giant panda triplets and the largest koala population outside Australia. Additionally, the circus has hosted over 45 million visitors since opening in 2000 and is known for captivating high-flying acts like Sky of Destiny.
