Petrikirche, Gothic church in Innenstadt-West, Germany
The 105-meter-tall sandstone church features a cross-saddle roof over side aisles and a tower that marks the Dortmund skyline in North Rhine-Westphalia.
Construction of the Petrikirche began in 1322, and after destruction in 1759, the church received classical baroque elements during its reconstruction period.
The Antwerp golden wing altar from 1521 measures 5.65 meters in height and 7.40 meters in width, containing 633 gilded figures narrating biblical stories.
The church maintains regular worship services and sends newsletters to inform visitors about programs through email and telephone communication channels.
The altar displays different religious scenes throughout the year, with 18 panel paintings during Holy Week and expanded presentations from Pentecost to Thanksgiving.
