Serre Mourene

Serre Mourene is a mountain summit in the central Pyrenees located at the border between the French Hautes-Pyrénées and the Spanish province of Huesca. The peak rises to approximately 3,090 meters and features steep slopes and rock formations as part of the Macizo de la Munia range.

The peak was first documented in alpinist records during the 19th century and became a known destination for climbers in the region. Height measurements were refined over time to achieve modern accuracy in elevation data.

The summit carries different names across languages, including Punta de las Loseras in Aragonese and Sierra Morena in Spanish, reflecting its cross-border location.

The ascent requires climbing equipment and alpine experience, especially due to rocky passages and steep sections. The best time for climbing is during summer months when weather conditions are more stable and snow coverage diminishes.

This peak maintains a prominence of 62 meters above surrounding terrain, making it a primary summit within the central Pyrenees chain.
