Kékes, Mountain summit in Heves County, Hungary

The Kékes mountain reaches an elevation of 1,014 meters, making it the highest peak in Hungary within the Mátra mountain range.

Following the Treaty of Trianon in 1920, Kékes gained the status of Hungary's highest peak, replacing the previously held position of Gerlachovský štít.

The mountain features multiple skiing pistes that attract winter sports participants, while also serving as a prominent stage in the Tour de Hongrie cycling race.

Visitors can reach Kékes through a paved road starting from Mátraháza village, climbing 307 meters over 3.9 kilometers with an average gradient of 7.87 percent.

The Kékestető TV Tower, constructed in 1981, extends 176 meters into the sky and functions as both a transmission facility and an observation point.
