Abaliget Cave, Karst cave in Mecsek Mountains, Hungary

The limestone cave extends 1,764 meters through three branches, featuring water-filled passages, stalactites, and stalagmites formed during the Triassic period.

First documented in 1768, the cave received Natural Monument status in 1941 and opened for regular public access during the 1980s.

The cave houses a research station and museum focusing on 41 bat species, including the Lesser Horseshoe Bat and Greater Horseshoe Bat.

Visitors can explore 500 meters of developed passages through guided tours available daily from March to October, with reduced winter hours.

The cave contains a specific microclimate and mineral content that provides therapeutic benefits for individuals with respiratory conditions.
