Vízfő Cave

Vízfő is a cave and spring system in Orfű where underground passages run through limestone formations and natural water flows from the depths. The cave consists of several connected chambers and passages marked by mineral deposits.

The cave formed over thousands of years as water carved passages through the limestone of the Mecsek region. These slow geological processes created the chambers and established an important water source.

The name refers to the water source that emerges from within and shapes the landscape character. Visitors can observe how clear water flows from the limestone and makes this a special gathering place for locals.

Access is via marked trails from Vízfő Turistaház, which offers parking nearby. The terrain is walkable but sturdy footwear is recommended due to wet and slippery surfaces inside and around the cave.

Water from the cave supplies drinking water to the nearby community and flows into local streams. Visitors can see how this underground system has supported the region's water supply for a long time.
