Lake Orfű, reservoir
Lake Orfű is a reservoir in Hungary created in 1966 by damming a river and covering about 72 hectares. It is fed by a karst spring and sits on the northern side of the Mecsek mountains, surrounded by green forests and open spaces.
The idea for a system of lakes in the Orfű area began in the early 1960s to use natural spring waters and create a recreational destination. The largest one was built in 1966 and quickly became popular for swimming, boating, and fishing.
The lake is a place where families and friends gather, especially on weekends for picnics and meals together. The activities reflect daily life in the region, with fishermen casting lines, boaters drifting across the water, and swimmers enjoying the seasons.
Visitors will find basic facilities such as parking spaces, picnic spots, and boat rentals available around the lake. The area has easy access with paths that help visitors explore the water and surroundings.
Since 2008, the lake has hosted the Fishing on Orfű music festival with live bands and water-based events. Starting in 2016, a stage was built directly on the water, giving visitors the unique experience of concerts floating on the lake.
