Thiruvananthapuram North Railway Station, Railway station in Thiruvananthapuram, India
Thiruvananthapuram North Railway Station is a modern facility with six platforms and thirteen tracks serving the northern area of the city. The station handles daily passenger traffic across Kerala and to various destinations throughout India.
The station opened in 2005 to reduce overcrowding at the older Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station. This expansion was part of a broader effort to modernize rail infrastructure across southern India.
The station bears the name Vikram Sarabhai Terminal, honoring the founder of the Indian space program who contributed to scientific progress.
The station is located roughly eight kilometers north of the city center and is accessible by local transport options. Visitors should allow extra time for security procedures and check departure schedules in advance.
The facility is undergoing expansion to become a multi-level station with additional elevated platforms in the coming years. This modernization project will significantly increase capacity and create new travel options.
