Nehru Science Centre, Science museum in Worli, Mumbai, India
The Nehru Science Centre is a science museum in the Worli neighborhood of Mumbai, displaying over five hundred exhibits related to mechanics, energy, sound and other fields. The displays spread across several themed sections and include a large outdoor area with hands-on installations.
Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi opened the center in 1985, following earlier exhibitions on light and sight plus the creation of a park. These steps laid the groundwork for the current center with its many themed areas and large outdoor section.
The National Council of Science Museums operates this educational facility as part of a network of 25 science centers across India under the Ministry of Culture.
The museum opens daily from ten in the morning until six in the evening and remains accessible on Sundays and public holidays. Only during Holi and Diwali does the facility close for a few days.
The outdoor section extends over more than three hectares and combines interactive science stations with numerous plant species. This combination turns the visit into a walk where nature and experiment sit side by side.
