Patan Devi, Hindu temple in Patna, India
Patan Devi is a Hindu temple in Patna, Bihar, housing a black stone statue of the goddess with a north-facing entrance. The shrine sits behind a covered portico and welcomes visitors through a doorway framed by carved pillars and traditional ornamentation.
Devotees consider this site one of the fifty-one Siddha Shakti Pitha and connect it with a legendary account of goddess Sati. According to the narrative, the right thigh of the deity fell to earth at this point.
During Durga Puja festival, the temple receives approximately 600 daily visitors who participate in ceremonies and present offerings to the deities.
The site opens daily from six in the morning until ten at night and all visitors are welcome. Tuesday tends to bring the most activity, so weekday mornings offer a quieter experience.
Local residents believe the city name derives from this shrine, as the main deity is revered as Sarvanand Kari Patneshwari. During Durga Puja celebrations, daily visitor numbers rise noticeably to around six hundred people.
