Old Naini Bridge is a truss bridge that spans the meeting point of the Ganges and Yamuna rivers, supported by distinctive shoe-shaped concrete pillars. The structure carries traffic across both banks using a framework of metal beams positioned along multiple supports.

Built during British colonial rule more than 150 years ago, the bridge created a vital link across the rivers for the region. It remains a remnant of that era's infrastructure development.

The bridge holds special meaning during Kumbh Mela festivals, when large numbers of pilgrims gather below at the sacred river meeting point. Visitors standing here can sense how important this location is in Hindu spiritual life.

The bridge currently allows only light vehicles to cross while maintenance work continues on the parallel New Yamuna Bridge. Pedestrians can walk across, though it is wise to be aware of traffic conditions.

The shoe-shaped concrete pillars are an engineered design created specifically to handle the river's strong currents and seasonal water level changes. This unusual approach has allowed the bridge to withstand natural forces for many decades.
