Tardeo

Tardeo is a residential neighborhood in South Mumbai that stretches from Nana Chowk to Haji Ali Junction, marked by modern high-rise buildings, shops, and apartment complexes. The streets display a mix of newer construction alongside older structures, reflecting how the city has grown over time.

The neighborhood underwent a major shift in 1999 when Crossroads, its first shopping mall, opened inside a repurposed pharmaceutical factory. This event marked the start of modern retail growth and changed how people in the area shop and spend their time.

Two spiritual leaders, Kakaji Maharaj and Pappaji Maharaj, made their home here and founded a movement focused on women's freedom and equality. Their legacy remains visible in how locals speak about the neighborhood's commitment to social progress.

The neighborhood connects easily to Mumbai Central railway station and has regular bus services running through the area for getting around. Shops and restaurants are within walking distance, though streets can get crowded during busy hours.

An oval-shaped pedestrian bridge spanning about 650 meters (2,130 feet) crosses Tardeo Road and is supported by just one central column. This unusual cable-stayed design stands out as you walk through and shows clever engineering in a busy area.
