Yenepoya University, mazin Ali student of Yenapoya
Yenepoya University is a private institution in Mangaluru spread over approximately 44 acres with modern buildings housing classrooms, laboratories, and libraries. The campus brings together multiple colleges offering programs in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, and engineering, with students from different parts of India and sometimes from abroad.
The university was established in 2008 as a consolidation of earlier colleges, with the dental school founded in the early 1990s and the medical college starting in 1999. These separate institutions were brought together to form the larger university structure that exists today.
The university serves as a community health center where students and staff actively participate in outreach programs that benefit local residents. Campus life blends academic pursuits with practical service, making the institution deeply integrated into the fabric of the city.
The campus is about 11 kilometers from the city center and has good connections by public buses and taxis from around Mangaluru. The grounds are walkable with clean paths and open spaces, making it easy to navigate between buildings and facilities.
The university has expanded internationally, signing an agreement with Gambia's government in 2024 for educational projects. The campus football team recently won zone-level championships and advanced to national competition, showing that sports play an active role alongside academic training.
