Aarani taluk, Administrative division in Tiruvannamalai district, India
The Aarani taluk spreads across the northern part of Tiruvannamalai district with a population of 294,207 people according to the 2011 census data.
During the Second Carnatic War in 1751, British forces led by Robert Clive defeated a Franco-Indian army in the Battle of Aarani.
The region maintains 278 modern rice mills, making it the primary rice processing center in North Tamil Nadu, with many farmers cultivating the Aarani Ponni variety.
The taluk headquarters contains governmental offices, educational institutions, and a municipal administration system that manages 33 different wards within its jurisdiction.
The ancient fort in the center of Aarani now functions as an administrative complex, housing various departments including the forest service and police stations.
