Rollapadu Wildlife Sanctuary

The sanctuary spans 614 square kilometers of undulating plains at 290 meters elevation, featuring mixed forests and thorny bushes in a hot, dry climate.

Established in 1988, this protected area serves as a conservation site for the Great Indian Bustard, which stands 120 centimeters tall and weighs up to 14.5 kilograms.

The sanctuary maintains the delicate balance between local agricultural practices and wildlife preservation, with nearby farmers cultivating cotton, tobacco, and sunflower crops.

Visitors can access the sanctuary through Nandikotkuru town, located 18 kilometers away, with accommodation available at the forest rest house in Kurnool.

The sanctuary houses 132 bird species and contains a man-made water reservoir specifically designed for wildlife consumption alongside a natural rainwater collection system.
