Jayamahal Palace Hotel, building in India
Jayamahal Palace Hotel is a hotel housed in a building designed like a French chateau, located in Bangalore. It contains 11 suites featuring high ceilings, dark wood, large balconies, and modern bathrooms, while a wooden grand staircase connects the levels and guests climb it to reach their rooms.
The building was constructed long ago by an Englishman and was used as a summer home by the royal Wodeyar family before becoming a hotel. The conversion preserved the original architecture while adapting the space for guests.
The name Jayamahal connects to Bangalore's royal past, and each suite reflects regional Indian themes through its decor and artwork. The Gujarat Suite displays elephant paintings while the Peacock Suite uses peacock-inspired colors, showing how the hotel celebrates the country's cultural diversity through its rooms.
The hotel lacks modern conveniences such as elevators or broadband internet, so guests must use the main staircase to reach their rooms. Staff offer personalized meal preparation based on guest preferences, accommodating Indian, Western, or egg dishes.
The bar called Formula 11 features glass tables mounted on car tires and displays black-and-white photographs of the royal family who were racing car enthusiasts. This playful connection to motorsport history makes the venue an unexpected and entertaining detail within the property.
