Rifugio Genova-Figari, Mountain hut in Entracque, Piedmont, Italy.
Rifugio Genova-Figari is a mountain hut located at 2015 meters between Lake Brocan and Lake Chiotas, providing lodging and meals to mountaineers. The facility offers sleeping accommodations and dining services that serve hikers and climbers throughout the year.
The refuge was built in 1981 to replace an older structure that was submerged beneath Lake Chiotas. This new construction on the current site allowed mountaineering operations to continue in the area.
The hut serves traditional Piedmontese mountain dishes, particularly polenta with various toppings that reflect the regional cooking of the Alpine area. Guests experience flavors that have been part of mountain life in this region for many generations.
The hut can be reached from Lake Rovina parking area via two different trails: a shorter steeper path or a longer gradual route, both taking roughly 90 minutes. Visitors should prepare for high-altitude conditions and bring appropriate mountain gear.
Here visitors can spot ibexes, chamois, and eagles alongside rare plants like Saxifraga florulenta. The area serves as a refuge for Alpine wildlife that is uncommon to see elsewhere.
