Monte Jafferau

Monte Jafferau is an alpine summit in Piedmont that rises to about 2,800 meters and features steep mountainsides. Access follows a mountain road with numerous hairpin turns climbing toward the plateau at the top.

A military road was built in 1886 to reach this strategic location. A fortification followed between 1896 and 1898, shaping the place and its role in the surrounding region ever since.

The mountain carries significant meaning in local and military history, with structures that remain visible across its slopes today. Visitors walking through this landscape can observe how these installations are woven into the high alpine terrain.

A dirt mountain road leads to the summit and needs high-clearance vehicles, especially in wet weather. The best visiting season runs from May through October when the road is passable.

The fortification here sits at one of the highest positions in the Italian Alps and offers views across multiple valleys on clear days. This elevation makes it a notable point along the mountain range.
