Morishita Station, Metro station in Koto, Tokyo, Japan
Morishita Station is a metro station in the Koto district of Tokyo, served by two subway lines: the Shinjuku Line and the Oedo Line. Each line has its own platforms, arranged across two island platforms with four tracks in total.
The station opened in 1978 as part of the Shinjuku Line, making it one of the older stops in Tokyo's subway network. A second set of platforms for the Oedo Line was added around 20 years later.
The streets around the station have a low-rise, residential feel, with small local shops and a few sumo stables tucked into the neighborhood. Visitors walking the side streets may spot training facilities that are rarely found in busier parts of Tokyo.
The station has elevators, escalators, and accessible restrooms, making it easy to get around for all types of travelers. Because the two lines have separate entrances, it is worth checking which entrance corresponds to your line before arriving.
The Shinjuku Line and the Oedo Line sections of the station have separate addresses within Morishita, not just separate entrances. This means the two access points are a short walk apart, which can catch travelers off guard if they head to the wrong side.
