Futtsu, Administrative division in Chiba Prefecture, Japan

Futtsu stretches across 205 square kilometers on the southwest coast of the Boso Peninsula, facing the Uraga Channel at Tokyo Bay's southern end.

Following its establishment as a village in 1889, Futtsu transformed into a town in 1897 and received city status in 1971 after merging with neighboring areas.

The region contains numerous archaeological sites with artifacts from the Japanese Paleolithic period, including discoveries from Jomon, Yayoi, and Kofun eras.

The city maintains eight elementary schools, three middle schools, and two high schools, serving its population of 42,476 residents across 18,115 households.

The Futtsu Power Station, located within the city limits, operates as one of the largest thermal power facilities in the world using liquefied natural gas.
