Yamaguchi

The city spans across 1,023 square kilometers with the Seto Inland Sea at its southern border and the Fushino River flowing through its central basin.

During the Muromachi period, the Ouchi clan established Yamaguchi as a cultural center, inviting Spanish Jesuit Francis Xavier to start a mission in 1551.
