Takada Station, railway station in Yamatotakada, Nara prefecture, Japan
Takada Station is a railway station in Yamatotakada with an above-ground structure featuring two platforms and three tracks. The simply designed building connects the platforms via stairs and elevators, and includes a staffed ticket office along with standard passenger facilities like restrooms and waiting areas.
The station opened in 1891 as the terminus of the Osaka Railway line and has served the region for over 130 years. It changed operators several times throughout the 20th century before becoming part of JR West in 1987, with the current building completed in the 1980s.
The station's name reflects its deep ties to the Takada area and its role as a connector for surrounding communities. Today it serves as a natural gathering point where daily routines unfold, with commuters, students, and residents moving through in a steady rhythm that defines local life.
The station features elevators, accessible restrooms, and bicycle parking for visitors. Bus connections and sidewalks make it easy to reach nearby destinations such as City Hall and other parts of town.
The station serves as a junction where the Wakayama Line and the Man-yō Mahoroba Line intersect, with the latter having launched passenger service only in 2010. This relatively recent addition makes it a key transfer point for travelers exploring nearby historical sites and temples.
