Goheung County

Goheung County is an administrative area in South Jeolla bordered by water on three sides with numerous small islands scattered along its coast. The landscape includes mountains, valleys, and a long shoreline that defines much of the region's geography.

The area took its present form in the 1960s when several towns and villages underwent administrative reorganization and separation. These changes established the boundaries and structure that remain today.

The area is known for its citron cultivation, which shapes daily life in the coastal villages and farming communities. The camellia blossoms and doves that live here are part of what residents and visitors see throughout the seasons.

The weather changes with the seasons, bringing hot summers and regular rainfall throughout the year. Visitors should prepare for humid conditions and bring appropriate clothing and rain gear when planning a trip.

The region is home to the Naro Space Center, a major space facility with launch platforms and research laboratories. This installation makes it an important location for South Korea's space exploration program.
