Jinnamgwan

Jinnamgwan is a wooden pavilion in Yeosu designated as a National Treasure and occupies a large footprint with substantial dimensions. The structure is supported by many pillars and covered by a tiled roof that spans the entire building.

The building was constructed in 1599 after its predecessor was destroyed during an invasion period. This reconstruction as an administrative building marked an important moment in rebuilding after conflict.

The building displays traditional Korean architectural details such as dragon-head carvings on its columns and flower-shaped supports painted with Dancheong colors. These decorative elements reflect the style of significant public structures from that era and shape how the interior feels.

The building is located in central Yeosu and is easy to reach. Inside is a museum displaying exhibits about maritime history and tactics from that period.

A single stone statue remains in the courtyard from a set of seven figures originally created for a specific military purpose. This solitary statue tells a story about the place's long past.
