Seoul Air Base, Military air base in Seongnam, South Korea.
Seoul Air Base is a military air facility in Seongnam operating two asphalt runways equipped with instrument landing systems. The longer runway measures approximately 3 kilometers while the second extends around 2.7 kilometers.
The base originated as Yeouido Air Base during Japanese occupation and relocated to its current location in 1970. The United States military subsequently designated it as K-16.
The Seoul Air Base hosts the Seoul Airshow every two years, bringing together aviation professionals and defense industry representatives to showcase military aircraft.
The facility covers a large area with clearly marked runway zones and separate service areas. As a military installation, visitor access requires prior authorization and security clearance.
The installation serves dual purposes as a military combat base and VIP airfield for the South Korean President and visiting foreign dignitaries. This dual role means government flights and military operations function side by side.
