Everland Resort, Theme park in Yongin, South Korea
Everland is a theme park in Cheoin-gu, Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, operated by Samsung C&T and divided into five zones: Global Fair, Zootopia, European Adventure, Magic Land and American Adventure. Its 1982 Space Ferris Wheel, a white steel lattice with red-topped cabins, closed in 2011; the 2008 wooden coaster T Express remains in European Adventure. Zootopia holds giant pandas Aibao, Lebao and Fubao, born in 2020 as South Korea's first panda cub.
Construction began in 1968 after Anseong declined to host the park, and it opened on April 18, 1976 as Yongin Farmland, a nature-themed park with about 200 animal species and an orchard. It was renamed Everland in 1996, the year its water park Caribbean Bay opened. T Express, South Korea's first wooden roller coaster, followed in 2008.
The park opened in 1976 as Yongin Farmland, a name still used by older visitors; it became Everland in 1996. Its mascots are Lenny the lion cub and friends Lara, Jack, Bagel and Donna. Since 2016 Zootopia has housed giant pandas, including Fubao, the first born in South Korea, in 2020.
Direct buses run from Gangnam Station in the capital, with a journey of roughly one hour. It helps to arrive early in the day or closer to closing time to avoid the longest waits at attractions.
A wooden roller coaster operating since the early 2000s reaches speeds of about 104 kilometers per hour. This ride ranks among the longest and most visible of its kind in the region.
