NHN Green Factory, Corporate office building in Seongnam, South Korea.
NHN Green Factory is a corporate office building with 27 floors above ground and 7 levels below, designed on a modular system based on multiples of three. The structure contains 19 elevators and an adjustable louver system that controls natural light and reduces energy use throughout.
The building opened in 2010 as the headquarters of Naver Corporation, marking a major expansion for the company. Naver had been established about a decade earlier and needed a new central base for its growing operations.
The interior design follows city planning principles, with individual workspaces functioning like homes and each floor creating its own small community. Workers move through the building as if navigating a town, encouraging daily interaction and connection.
The building features an extensive elevator system that makes navigation between the many levels straightforward. Visitors should know that the open floor plan without internal columns means areas can shift and reconfigure, so layouts are not fixed.
The building features a column-free structure that allows departments to completely reshape their office spaces as needed. This flexibility is uncommon in large corporate buildings and enables quick responses to organizational changes.
