Bsharri

Bsharri is a mountain town in northern Lebanon situated at approximately 1,500 meters elevation, located near the Cedars of God forest and the Kadisha Valley. Traditional stone buildings cling to steep slopes, with natural forests surrounding the settlement.

Maronite Christians established settlements in Bsharri during the 7th century, transforming it into a spiritual center in the mountainous region. The town developed over centuries as a refuge for Christian communities in the surrounding area.

The Gibran Museum displays works and personal belongings of Lebanese writer Khalil Gibran in a converted monastery building. Visitors can view original manuscripts and paintings that reflect his life and philosophy.

Visitors reach Bsharri via mountain roads connecting to larger cities, with regular transport services available during daylight hours. The pathways within the town are steep and require sturdy footwear, especially during wet or snowy seasons.

The Cedars Ski Resort operates Lebanon's first ski lift, which has been running since 1953 and brings winter sports enthusiasts to high elevations. This early installation allows visitors to reach snow-covered peaks within minutes of leaving the valley below.
