Ömnögovi Province spans 165,380 square kilometers of the Gobi Desert region, featuring sand dunes, mountains, and mineral deposits throughout its territory.

The province, established in 1931, developed from a traditional nomadic region into a center of mineral extraction and paleontological discoveries in Mongolia.

The population maintains traditional herding practices with horses, camels, and goats, while Buddhist beliefs remain prevalent among 73 percent of local residents.

Visitors can reach the province through Dalanzadgad Airport, which operates regular flights from Ulaanbaatar and contains one concrete runway for aircraft operations.

The Flaming Cliffs area of Ömnögovi holds numerous dinosaur fossil sites, making it a significant location for international paleontological research expeditions.
