Parasi District, Administrative district in Lumbini Province, Nepal.
Parasi District is an administrative area in Lumbini Province, southern Nepal, characterized by flat, fertile plains and agricultural land. The terrain features open fields typical of the Terai landscape, with rivers and waterways crossing through farming communities.
The area was originally part of a larger administrative region before being established as a separate district in 2015. This reorganization was part of Nepal's nationwide administrative restructuring that affected many districts.
The population includes numerous ethnic groups, with Tharu forming 18.4 percent, Hill Brahmin 11.5 percent, and Chamar 7.4 percent of district residents.
The district is divided into several urban and rural administrative units connecting different towns and settlements. Travel through the area is easiest along the main roads linking larger towns, while rural sections are more accessible during dry seasons.
Located at coordinates 27.32°N and 83.40°E, the district maintains Bhojpuri as its primary language, spoken by more than half of its 321,058 inhabitants.
