Ad Dakhiliyah Governorate

Ad Dakhiliyah Governorate extends across 31,900 square kilometers of land, encompassing nine provinces including Nizwa, Samail, Bahla, and Adam.

The region transformed from a mintaqah to a governorate in October 2011, marking a significant administrative restructuring within the Sultanate of Oman.

The governorate maintains traditional markets where local artisans sell handcrafted items, agricultural products, and regional specialties throughout its provinces.

Nizwa, the administrative center of Ad Dakhiliyah, provides essential government services and commercial facilities for the region's 478,500 residents.

The territory contains multiple ancient fortifications, including the UNESCO World Heritage site of Bahla Fort, which stands as a testament to medieval architecture.
