Little Snake Canyon, Canyon passage in South Batinah Governorate, Oman
Little Snake Canyon is a narrow passage through the Wadi Bani Awf in South Batinah Governorate, featuring steep limestone walls and a long water pool. The canyon walls rise vertically and create a dramatic natural corridor that visitors walk through.
Early explorers named it for the serpentine path carved through the Hajar Mountains, while local residents know it by the name Seer Al Zamah. The canyon has shaped routes through these mountains for generations.
You will need a four-wheel drive vehicle starting from Al Awabi town, then drive on unpaved roads for about three kilometers to reach the entrance. The approach is demanding, especially after rain when roads become more difficult.
At the narrowest points, visitors can touch both walls at the same time while moving through the passage. This intimate contact with the canyon creates a memorable experience as you navigate the stone corridor.
